Integrating Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft Dynamics ERP products

I sometimes get asked by partners about connectors from Microsoft between CRM and our own ERP products. Today’s note is to give you an update on this front.

Customers who want to integrate Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft Dynamics ERP products can choose from integration solutions offered by several Dynamics partners, including Scribe, Celenia and VisionPeople.  Recently at Convergence 2008, several new integration solutions were made available from Hitachi, Tectura and several other partners. We continue to evaluate market and customer needs for connectors for Dynamics CRM and Dynamics ERP products from Microsoft.

As may be noted, previously Microsoft had discussed plans to deliver connectors that integrate Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft Dynamics ERP products. Some customers and partners may be wondering what the current positioning of “we continue to evaluate market and customer needs” means.  Or more simply, if a customer wants to implement an end-to-end Dynamics CRM and ERP solution why can’t they rely on Microsoft’s technical expertise to build the connectors between Dynamics products?

Microsoft has previously delivered a connector for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 to Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0. The feedback from customers is that they would like to see more flexibility and simpler administration built into the connector.  Therefore, to ensure we’re meeting market demands, we will conduct further analysis of customer needs before delivering a connector between Microsoft Dynamics CRM to all 4 Microsoft Dynamics ERP products. We will update you when we have more information to share.

Cheers, Ross
